Service

The part that starts after launch.

Updates, patches, backups and the small changes nobody has time for, on a site that is already carrying customers.

What it is

Launch day is the start of a website, not the end of it. Platforms update, plugins break, certificates expire, and the small change you asked for in March is still on a list in November.

Maintenance here means somebody checks, applies it on a staging copy first, and then tells you what happened. And a backup nobody has ever restored is worth very little.

care-run.md illustrative example
  • Updates staged. Platform, plugins and dependencies applied on a copy, clicked through, then released.
  • Backup restored. Restored into the staging copy, not merely taken, so we know the file can actually be used.
  • Certificates and DNS checked. Expiry dates read, so renewal is not a Saturday morning surprise.
  • Errors read. Server and browser errors from the period, with the ones that repeat fixed.
  • Small changes done. The list you have been keeping: text, images, a field, a page.

What one maintenance pass consists of. Applied on a staging copy first, and written down afterwards.

What you get

  • Platform, plugin and dependency updates, applied on a staging copy first
  • Security patches, prioritised by what is actually exposed
  • Backups on a schedule, with a restore actually tested
  • Uptime and certificate checks, so you hear it from us and not from a customer
  • The small changes: text, images, a new page, a form field
  • A short record of what changed and when
  • A path for the urgent ones, agreed in advance
  • Cleanup of what the last developer left behind

What gets watched

Updates
Applied on staging first, never straight onto the live site
Backups
Taken on a schedule and restored at least once, to prove they work
Certificates
Renewed before they expire, not after the browser warns
Uptime
Checked, so the first report does not come from a customer
Errors
Server and front-end errors looked at rather than left in the log

Questions

Do you maintain sites you did not build?

Yes. The first step is a look at what is there, so we both know what we are taking on before anything is agreed.

What counts as a small change?

Text, images, a new page from an existing template, a form field, a price. Anything bigger gets quoted separately so there are no surprises.

What happens if something breaks?

We agree in advance what urgent means for your business and how you reach us. The staging copy and the restore-tested backup exist precisely for that day.
